The Certified Nurse Assistants at Arriba Juntos will continue to flourish thanks to funding from the Walmart Foundation for additional continuing education units. The company’s State Giving Program awarded a $25,000 grant to Arriba Juntos. With this grant, we’ll be able to provide 200 low-income individuals with the Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) continuing education units, also known as CEUs, so they can renew and retain their state license, continue to work as a CNA and live stable and fulfilling lives.
Self-sufficiency for low-income families is a top priority for Arriba Juntos and health career trainings offer great employment opportunities to our students in sustainable and growing industries.
“In our 49 years of experience helping people reach self-sufficiency, we know that occupational training opens doors for underserved residents of the Bay Area,” said Dalila Ahumada, executive director of Arriba Juntos. “We are incredibly grateful to the Walmart Foundation.”
Arriba Juntos is committed to the success of students in all our programs. The health career trainings include individual case management, job readiness skills such as jobseeker portfolio development (e.g., resume, applications, and online profiles), learning interview and communication skills, as well as job placement services. Last year, 95% of CNA graduates found employment in the field.
“The resources and support that Arriba Juntos provide to help people across the Bay Area reach self-sufficiency are vital to their success,” said Chester Gray, regional general manager for Walmart. “We’re honored to help support such a worthwhile cause, and we applaud the organization’s efforts to help people live better.”
A CNA’s main role varies depending on the work setting which can include homes, hospitals, long term care and skilled nursing facilities and their overall role is to provide patient care under the direction of nursing staff.
